I have two options for family sessions. At the studio with various backgrounds or outdoors about an hour before sunset. At the studio is great for quick, simple family pictures. Outdoor sunset sessions give us lots of room to play, and the freedom for little ones to wander, with time to be playful and relaxed. I would love to photograph your family! - Laura

Where do we do sunset photos?
I do a lot of my outdoor sessions at a private farm east of Watseka. I can also come to your property or any property that we have permission to take photos on.
What should we wear?
Outfits matter so much in your images- please don't overlook this step!
Avoid bright or neon colors. Simple is always better! Outfits don't need to match exactly, but should go well together. When in doubt, stick to more neutral, natural colors
Simple outfits, and soft colors with minimal patterns work well for the studio. For outdoor photos avoid all black or bright white.
When it doubt, got towards earthy neutrals and denim.
What should we bring?
You can bring extra outfit options if you aren't sure about what to wear. Bring snacks, water etc for younger kids. I usually have organic suckers in my camera bag if we need a bribe, but you can also bring small candies that aren't messy to encourage kiddos to be happy.
How do we order?
Your photos are available to download from your gallery for 1 month. You also have the option to easily order beautiful prints and products from your gallery that will be shipped directly to you.

Outfit Planning
I really can't emphasize enough how very important your outfit choices are to your images! Family pictures can have a lot going on, so keeping outfits simple and coordinated really matters. You don't want one person standing out in a bright outfit or loud pattern. Make sure outfits fit your little ones well- you don't need them tripping on saggy pants or swimming in their outfits. The day of the session is not the time to try on the clothes! Avoid bright or neon colors. Think of creating a timeless look with more classic outfits.
